Applied Computer Science and Control
This three-year Applied Computer Science and Control programme is offered at the Institute of Automation and Computer Science. The programme's key courses are related to information technologies and automation.
The programme includes basic courses in computer hardware and software and courses in the design of engineering automation tools program development for information and control system. The students will learn about the design and operation of information systems working in the environment of computer networks, about optimisation methods employed in economy as well as about particular programs used in practice including both general ones, such as operating systems of computer networks, database systems, and specialised products such as MATLAB, SIMULINK, CASE, CAE, CONTROL WEB, STEP 7, etc. Students will learn how to use computers for controlling technological processes and how to build information systems. Field trips to the leading companies and universities both at home and abroad are part of the programme.
Mastering practical skills required for work with computing and control technology is the primary objective. In the computer science part of the programme, emphasis is placed on computing applications such as the design and administration of computer networks, development of information systems and network applications. The automation and control part focuses on state-of-the-art automation engineering tools including non-industrial automation and protection systems.
After graduation, the students will find ample job opportunities since, nowadays, new information technologies are required on a large scale in business, industries and in public service. The graduates may be employed in companies developing software, trading with computers, designing control systems, installing and administering computer networks both in small and large companies.
Our graduates are much in demand thanks to a large number of new dynamic IT companies that have recently emerged. All our graduates have found jobs with many of them being the owners of specialised businesses. The present demand of companies significantly exceeds the number of graduates. The expected future development of information technologies and automation will, for a long time, guarantee our graduates good job opportunities with a good pay.
After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science and Control, students may continue their studies in the same follow-up Master's degree programme to receive a Master’s degree of “Ing.”.
