Course detail
Application of CAD/CAM in Machining Technology II
FSI-HC2-A Acad. year: 2016/2017 Summer semester
The course is intended as an introduction to the CAD/CAM system focused on the software working in 2D, 3D and 5-axes mode. Also dealt with is hardware of CAM systems. It provides students with basic knowledge necessary for the design of tools, jigs and fixtures in the CAD environment in order to prepare the data for further processing in CAM systems.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will learn how to work in CAD/CAM systems especially when designing in 2D and to create models in 3D intended for further application in CAM systems. They will have an overview of manufacturing technologies and computer technology systems and will be made familiar with the methodology of work with CAD/CAM.
Prerequisites
Technical drawing. Fundamentals of machining technology.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline. Exercises are focused on practical topics presented in lectures.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the practicals and fulfilled assigned tasks. Exam tests theoretical knowledge and its practical application when solving tasks in CAM systems (2D, 3D and 5-axes).
Aims
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of engineering parts in CAM system with 2D, 3D and 5-axes application.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Individual assignments and result checking.
