Aims
The course aims to introduce students to the principles of concurrent engineering with a focus on casting development and design strategies that prevent manufacturing defects. Students will gain knowledge of optimization techniques for casting design, including topology optimization, generative design, and numerical simulation-based optimization. The course also develops skills in teamwork and supplier–customer collaboration, covering concept development, component design, prototype production, and implementation of serial production. The course further addresses the fundamentals of leadership and team management, the building of supplier–customer relationships using CRM databases, and provides an overview of ERP systems with procurement and quotation management. Additionally, students will acquire an understanding of foundry management, including organizational and operational aspects of running a casting enterprise.
