Effective Communication
FSI-YEK Acad. year: 2026/2027 Winter semester
The subject provides an overview of various techniques of presentation and successful communication with potential clients. Attention is placed mainly on practical training of clear communication and presentation. The subject helps students to present their ideas, projects and creative outcomes.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course
Lectures: Attendance is recommended.
Seminars: Attendance is mandatory and monitored by the instructor, in case of long-term absence, the make-up of missed classes is at the discretion of the course guarantor.
Requirements for obtaining graded credit:
- active participation in seminars (minimum 5 out of 10 points),
- partial presentation as practice of specific communication techniques (minimum 40 out of 80 points),
- final presentation of one’s own work using the discussed techniques (minimum 5 out of 10 points).
The final grade will be determined according to the ECTS grading scale.
Aims
Students will be able to present their projects in a clear and persuasive way using various methods of presentation.

Syllabus
- Body language, non-verbal communication, prosodic parameters of speech, improvisation.
- Basics of nonviolent communication. Techniques of persuasive communication with a client.
Studio work

- Presentation methods – Pecha Kucha.
- Presentation methods – elevator pitch, lightning talk.
- Presentation methods – storytelling in presentations.
- Presentation methods – the 5/5/5 Rule.
- Presentation methods – Prezi.
- Defining your own project slogan / tagline / page.
- Creating an expert story.
- Building a follower community for a specific product/project – defining the client.
- Verbal-visual presentations on social media, sales and communication with potential customers, finding your own voice.
- Practical training in nonviolent communication.
- Final presentations.
