Almost three-pound bell for the Chapel of St. Anne was cast by foundry masters from FME this Sunday in Vrbice in the Břeclav region. Dozens of local residents watched the production of the bell, which will bear the name of Hope. The blessing of the bell for the chapel, which did not have a bell until now, is planned for 26 July, when the feast of Anna is celebrated.
The church bells announce the time in the village, but the village wanted to fill the empty space in the bell tower. "We walked around it and wondered why it didn't have a bell. I couldn't find it anywhere. Then I came across the fact that they had the bell cast in Ořechov and I liked the idea. Moreover, my wife works at the BUT, where they do casting, and the word was out. If we were going to get it, we didn't want to just buy it. We thought it would be nice to make a bell in front of people during a parish day," Tomáš Bílek, the mayor of Vrbice, told the Czech News Agency.
The new bell is 20 centimetres in diameter and bears the name "Hope", the name of the village, the date of production and that it was cast by the VUT. Ondřej Štoček and Radim Jelínek, experts from the Institute of Engineering Technology, took over the casting in front of the locals. As already mentioned, last spring they cast a similar bell for the chapel ofSt. Peregrine near Ořechov near Brno.
