Optics Day 2025, organized on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Brno University of Technology by colleagues from the Institute of Physical Engineering in cooperation with the Czech Optical Cluster, brought together students, researchers, graduates, and representatives of companies and leading scientific and research institutions in this field. Their goal was to share current trends in the field of optics and photonics.
The career paths of graduates of the Institute of Physical Engineering, excursions to laboratories, a presentation of the Czech Optical Cluster, lectures by companies, and a performance by the Amazing Theatre of Physics (ÚDiF) – Optics Day 2025 offered all 130 participants a very varied program. “Our invitation was accepted by Vladislav Krzyžánek, director of the European Microscope Society, Petr Přikryl, representative of the Czech Optical Cluster, Josef Lazar, director of the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the CAS, and representatives of nine companies in the field,” said Věra Kollárová speaking on behalf of the organizers of Optics Day 2025.
"The students were grateful for the opportunity to gain an overview of where they can find employment after graduation and what directions they can take. For a moment, they became part of the 'optical community' and had the opportunity to meet and talk to other people who have already achieved a lot in this field," added Kollárová.
