Physical engineer Petr Liška from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology is currently spending the academic year at one of the world’s most prestigious universities – Stanford University in California – as a Fulbright Visiting Student. Thanks to the prestigious Fulbright scholarship, he is conducting research into ultrathin materials and quantum optics at the intersection of physics, nanotechnology, and photonics.
In his personal reflection shared in a blog post, he writes not only about cutting-edge science and the inspiring academic environment of Silicon Valley. He also describes life in the United States with his wife and young daughter, the everyday realities of raising a family in California, and encounters with people from all over the world that, according to him, have shaped not only the scientific but also the human side of the experience.
