The end of June traditionally brings not only summer but also the annual exhibition of graduate projects by Industrial Design students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical Museum in Brno. The exhibition opened with a vernissage on 22 June and will be open to the public from today until Sunday, 30 August.
This year, the work of 11 graduating students is on display. Visitors can explore not only physical models but also animations and renderings. Each project is accompanied by a thematic poster providing additional details about the design.
Among the exhibits are several transportation-related concepts, including Benedikt Müller’s design for an autonomous metro unit and Denisa Páleníková’s sleeper compartment concept. As in previous years, medical design is also represented, featuring a mobile MRI scanner alongside a range of other innovative student visions.
Currently, around seventy students are enrolled in the bachelor’s and master’s programmes in Industrial Design in Mechanical Engineering. Over the programme’s more than thirty-year history, 420 young designers have successfully completed their studies.
The graduate exhibition is being held for the twenty-fourth time, with the Technical Museum in Brno hosting it since 2004. Student projects have also been presented at dozens of exhibitions in the Czech Republic and abroad. Industrial Design students have received more than 140 major awards and finalist placements in Czech and international competitions, including three prestigious Red Dot Design Awards.
