How can we purify water without chemicals, develop more energy-efficient chips, manage waste more effectively or use digital twins in manufacturing? The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology will showcase research and technological solutions addressing today's challenges and those of the future in the city centre. The exhibition “Solutions for the Future Are Being Developed in Brno” will be on display at Moravské Square from 29 September to 27 October 2026.
At the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BUT, fundamental research goes hand in hand with practical applications and industry collaboration. The result is technologies and discoveries that find applications in energy, transport, manufacturing, healthcare, environmental protection and many other fields.
The open-air exhibition presents a selection of projects and research topics being explored by the faculty's scientists, researchers and students. It shows that we don't have to look far to find technologies that could shape our future – many of them are being developed right here in Brno.
Research and technology for the world around us
The exhibition panels cover a wide range of topics, from solar research and semiconductor physics to water purification, waste sorting, modern aviation, electromobility, robotics and nanotechnology. What unites them is a commitment to using science and engineering to solve real-world problems and explore new possibilities for the future.
“We want to show that research isn't something remote, happening only behind laboratory doors. Our faculty is developing solutions that could influence everyday life, industry and the technologies of the future. And they're being developed right here in Brno,” says Kateřina Růžičková, the exhibition's creator.
