Internships, placements, part-time jobs, trainee programmes and full-time positions—these were among the opportunities offered by employers from mechanical engineering and related fields at the 28th annual Career Fair, held once again over two days on 4–5 March 2026. This year, 67 employers came to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology (BUT), with five companies presenting on both days of the fair.
The career fair at FME attracts strong interest from both students and exhibitors every year. The two-day format, introduced last year, allows company presentations to be distributed more effectively across time and space, giving students more opportunities to visit individual employer stands.
“Thanks to the two-day format, students have more time to meet companies that interest them and can approach individual stands with specific questions. At the same time, it gives companies more space for presentations and personal interaction with students,” says event coordinator Iveta Hovorková.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BUT has repeatedly received the “School Recommended by Employers” award, granted to university faculties by the Club of Employers based on evaluations by companies. The award confirms the long-term quality of teaching and the strong practical readiness of graduates, which is also reflected in the high level of interest from companies in cooperating with students and alumni—and in their participation in events such as the Career Fair.
Students often approach company stands well prepared and with very specific questions about their future career opportunities. They are also supported by the fair’s website, where they can find information in advance about participating companies, their offers, and the study programmes they are interested in.
“The Career Fair offers a unique opportunity for our students to meet relevant employers. We invite students from all years of study, as companies offer not only full-time positions but also cooperation on bachelor’s and master’s theses, internships, trainee programmes or part-time jobs in the field. We aim to encourage students not to be afraid to gain professional experience already during their studies,” Hovorková adds.
