From metal 3D printing and humanoid robots to medical technologies, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology showcased ten exhibits at the 67th International Engineering Fair in Brno, developed with the involvement of researchers and students from across the faculty. The biggest success went to BeamShape, a BUT spin-off working closely with the Institute of Physical Engineering, which won an MSV Gold Medal for its new ElectronForge metal 3D printer.
The ElectronForge printer, which uses an electron beam rather than a laser to melt metal powder, made its world debut at the fair. Visitors could also explore a range of other technologies developed at FME. The Institute of Automotive Engineering presented an experimental Škoda Enyaq used to develop autonomous driving technologies, while the TU Brno Racing student team brought its Dragon e5 electric racing car. Visitors also had the chance to get behind the wheel of a single-seater racing car using the team's popular simulator.
The Institute of Machine and Industrial Design showcased its AeroMAG C-Frame and WAAM SpaceFrame exhibits, along with design concepts for an assistive robot for mountainous environments and an autonomous construction robot.

The Institute of Solid Mechanics, Mechatronics and Biomechanics attracted attention with its RBit humanoid robot and silicone models that allow surgeons to practise cleft lip and palate reconstruction. The Institute of Manufacturing Technology and the Energy Institute jointly presented a rotating absorber designed to capture carbon dioxide from flue gases.
Several of the technologies on display also attracted considerable media interest. Thanks to the fair, FME research and innovations featured in numerous online and print media reports, as well as radio broadcasts. At the Technology Stage hosted by MM Průmyslové spektrum magazine, FME Vice-Dean Lubomír Klimeš took part in a discussion on the use of AI in teaching, while FME student ambassador Petra Kalousková spoke about what university student life is really like.
