Course detail
Safety of Work on Machine Tools, Forming Machines and Industrial Robots
FSI-GB0 Acad. year: 2016/2017 Winter semester
The course familiarises students with the safety of machinery, especially with ensuring the safety in the field of design and operation of machine tools, forming machines, industrial robots and manipulators. The course presents basic legal regulations, i.e. Act No. 22/1997 on technical requirements for products. Also dealt with are basic Czech standards in the relation to the European standards system, i.e. ČSN EN ISO 12100 Safety of Machinery; Basic concepts, general principles for design. The course presents internal safety and operation guidelines of the major machine tools users.

Learning outcomes of the course unit
Students will be made familiar with the safety standards and legal regulations. They will have a grasp of the principles necessary for ensuring safety of machines, manipulators and robots in the stage of their designing.
Prerequisites
Design of machine tools, forming machines and industrial robots.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is taught through lectures explaining the basic principles and theory of the discipline.
Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes
Examination has a written and an oral part. It tests student’s knowledge and his/her ability to apply it to the branch of his/her study.
Aims
The aim of the course is to inform students about strict machine safety requirements in the process of the machine design, operation and disposal. The students should realise the essential relation between the machine design knowledge and requirements of safety standards and legal regulations.
Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences
Attendance at lectures is not obligatory. It is not necessary to compensate for missed lessons, missed topics are completed on the basis of independent study.
