Communication and presentation skills

The subject is focused on the practical acquisition of communication and presentation skills. The content included in the course syllabus will provide students with an overview of the basic principles and techniques of spoken expression and provide relevant and tactful feedback. Each student will have the opportunity to try out various techniques in front of a small audience within the study group. The course emphasizes demonstrative examples of the discussed topics and subsequent practice in front of the study group. The knowledge and experience gained in the course can help graduates present their final papers, projects, and their ideas and thoughts more effectively and confidently.

General knowledge, interest in personal development, communication and presentation skills.

Rules for evaluation and completion of the course

Terms of graded credit: 
− active participation in exercises,
− deliver a short speech and presentation on a chosen topic using the knowledge acquired during the semester.

Participation in seminars is mandatory. Two absences are allowed in the exercises. A longer absence is replaced by a special assignment according to the instructions of the teacher.

Aims

Students will acquire fundamental principles and practical techniques of verbal and nonverbal communication, presentation, and audience engagement:

- ability to recognize and adapt to different communication styles and personality types,
- ability to express ideas clearly and persuasively,
- ability to provide constructive and tactful feedback,
- ability to lead discussions, give feedback, and argue effectively,
- ability to prepare and deliver a speech, project, or product presentation,
- ability to manage stress and use nonverbal communication effectively.

Graduates will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in communication, presentation, and collaboration across various professional and personal contexts.

  3. Evaluation and feedback.

  4. Discussion, panel discussion.

  5. Persuasion, negotiation and argumentation.

  6. Debate – preparation, facilitation, sharing and responding to opponents.

  7. Speech creation and optimisation.

  8. Nonverbal communication, emotions, stress and relaxation.

  9. Student speeches and feedback from peers and the instructor.

  10. Presentation preparation, presenting, working with the audience and space.

  11. Product or project presentation, elevator pitch.
