Original abstract
The article is concerned with newly established system in language teaching at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Brno University of Technology. It monitors this concept in the context of The Bologna Process and in the context of the language diversity proclaimed by The European Union, it assesses the first practical impacts a year from its introduction. Foreign language abilities of students and graduates are also monitored with respect to the use of contacts with international universities and with respect to possible career achievements of the graduates – mainly in industrial companies.

Příspěvek popisuje nově zaváděnou koncepci výuky jazyků na Fakultě strojního inženýrství Vysokého učení technického v Brně. Sleduje tuto koncepci v souvislostech boloňského procesu a jazykové diverzity proklamovaných Evropskou unií, hodnotí první praktické dopady po roce jejího působení. Jazyková vybavenost studentů a absolventů je v příspěvku sledována také s ohledem na využívání kontaktů se zahraničními univerzitami a možnosti uplatnění absolventů v praxi převážně průmyslových podniků.
