Originální abstrakt
Since the academic year 2005-2006 the curricula of language courses taught at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, have been modified, which resulted in a need to cope with comparatively low number of teaching hours provided for the new courses with standardized levels set according to the Common European Framework. Extra hours can be provided to a limited extend only; therefore the most effective way seems to be an electronic support provided for the courses in various ways. The first use of an electronic support was introduced at the faculty in the academic year 2000-2001 already when CALL was incorporated in the compulsory courses making a full use of the computer lab and educational software. Today, the lab was completely modernized and the courses were supplemented by other forms of electronic support. The ways of utilizing those forms will be dealt with in detail giving a brief overview and ideas how to use them especially for blended learning and self-study (various forms of e-learning covering extra work to be done outside the lessons, electronic materials with great emphasis on the materials available on the Internet – a database of links to particular exercises, grammar and pronunciation guides offering further practice, videos, etc.).
